Planar inductors are low-profile magnetic components that provide greater confinement of flux compared to traditional wire-wound coils. This construction requires fewer turns, leading to reduced DC losses and increased power conversion efficiency. Planar inductors support high current limits for comparable inductance values and are ideal for efficient Switch-Mode Power Supply (SMPS) applications. Inductor designs are available across all planar magnetics package sizes, including the low-power (10W-1kW) sizes up to the high-power (10kW-250kW) sizes. The PQ32 fixed power inductors with ferrite cores are offered for applications like high-current POL converters, featuring inductance from 0.9 to 6.0 µH and rated current up to 80 A.
